  1. Kia Ora Mahuta,

I can understand why you are angry, however in World War II, many New Zealanders lost their lives, men and women from all different cultural backgrounds.

New Zealand fought together as a country for freedom. Here is a link if you'd like to read more about World War II https://nzhistory.govt.nz/war/new-zealand-and-the-second-world-war-overview

Just a gentle reminder that the purpose of this activity is about World War II and John McCrae's poem, as his way of honouring all of the people who passed away.

Could you possibly tell me about how you felt about the poem and how it honoured all of the soldiers who fought for freedom. For me, the poem makes me feel sad that so many had to lose their lives, it must've been a very dark time for many. However, it is also important to use things like poems to honour those who we lost to war.

John McCrae's poem became the most popular poem on the First World War, soon after publication. Today people continue to pay tribute to the poem by visiting McCrae'shouse which has been preserved as a museum in Guelph, Ontario (Canada)
