Gratitude

Today we have to write 5 things about what we are grateful for about from the morning we woke up to now.

End of year review

Today we had to make our end of year review it was cool because we got to choose our own photos. We had to make our end of year review I did mine around Whakaiti-respect, Mana motuhake and Manawaroa. The hard part was figuring out if I should do my video on kizoa or wevedio. The easy part was choosing my photos that show the 3rs. The thing I will do next time is make sure I double check on my video for mistakes. Here is a link to my video. Take a look

When I grow up

Today we had to do a montage about what we want to do when we are older it is called when I grow up. The hard part was understanding what a montages was because I had never heard that word In a long time. The easy part was finding some photos to go on it. We had made this on a google drawing. The thing I will do next next time we do this is to make sure I know what Im doing. Here is my montage D.L.O.

How to make a mini Christmas tree

Materials:

• Popsicle stick x1
• cupcake cups  x3
• glue stick        x1

Method

1. Capture your materials 
2. Grab all of your cupcake cups and make them into a triangle shape
3. Glue them on the Popsicle stick.

Athletics blog

Yesterday we had our school athletics and it was a blast I came 1st in hurdles, 3rd in sack race, 4th in shot put and discus and came 5th in long jump. I did not came anything in high jump because I do not like it and failed on my second try.  We were learning how to be a team player and to also have sportsmanship. The easy part was sack race because my bag was easy to jump in. Why because it was very small so I did not have to hold it up with my hands. The hard part was the long jump because some body jumped 3.04 meters and I only jumped 2.02 meters. The thing I will do next time is to try to be a team player more often. Here are some photos.

Float or sink

Today we had to test out one of our class mates boat to see if it will sink or float the boat was Honekai. What happened? We filled up the bottles with water that he used to build his boat with and tested if it will float or sink. It sunk why because the water that is in the bottle is more dense than the water it disabled and that is what density means. The easy part was knowing if it was going to sink or not. we had a vote and I picked sink I was correct with many others. The hard part was  making sure the hole boat was sinking because It was floating just a little bit. Why because the there was a bite of air in the bottle and air will make something float. The thing I will do next time we do that is to make sure I have the rite answer. Here is his boat.

Sunshine and swimming togs

The things I love to do during summer is to play out side in the bright sun I also love to go swimming when there are big waves. I like to swim in the sparkling blue sea and blue clear water. I always look forward to swim with friends and family I think I am a great swimmer as well. My cat na loves the water sometimes on a rainy day he would just sit outside playing with the paddles. When the sun is shinning too bright I can get sweaty In 25 seconds that´s how hot the sun can be. I will always look forward to summer at the beach. know back to the outside part I like playing with sticks and many other toys outside. Im looking forward to the beach all the time.

Assembly blog

In week 4 my class and I had our assembly it was really fun because I was mc also because I was in a dance. The easy part was speaking in a clear voice to the audience. The hard part was the dance because we did not practice much and when I was on stage it looked like I did not know what I was doing. The thing I will do next time is practice the dance more instead of going on tehiku to watch kapa haka. Here is my mc work and my assessment work.

Problem solving

This week we have been learning how to do fractions. I know that the top number is the numerator and the bottom number is the denominator. It has been fun. The easy part was working out the answer with my strategy. The strategy I used was group and family of facts I also used he formula that was the best strategy to work out the answer. There wasn't really a hard part but I do have to say some of the problems were hard. The thing I will do next time we do this is to remember that the answer is not the main focus it is all about the strategy you do. Here is a photo of it.

How to build a boat

I have been learning how to build a waka there are so many ways my favorite way is using plastic bottles. The hard part of making my boat was making sure I had the rite design and if I had all my materials.The easy part was building the boat but It was a struggle finding my equipment. The thing I will do next time we do this I will be organised the week before we do it. Anyway the boat I have design is made out of milk bottles, sticks and harakeke. Here is my design. 

Kapa haka

On Saturday 17 of November my school Kawakawa kapa haka group went to perform at  Maranga Mai E Te iwi regionals they were incredible they came 3rd for intermediate and 4th to go to nationals. I was there to support and I was so proud of them I wish I could watch it in person again. The thing I enjoyed was the waiata-a-ringa the song for Mrs Lemon it sounded so special. The only thing they need to work on is there harmonizing other than that it was amazing. Here is the link for there kapa haka. Te rau pou manawa o Kawakawa.

Waka design

Mahuta's design a boat challenge

For the past two weeks we have been making boats it was very challenging if you did it to you would agree. The easy part was knowing what I was going to make it looked really easy but by the time I was getting my equipment I did not know how to stick it together so I used salatap. The hard part was actually making it because it was hard to stick the sticks in the bottle however it was  easy to make the harakeke stick on the sticks. The thing I will do next time is to make it smaller because it would of been easier. Here is my waka work.

Reading with Nga Rau Rito

Yesterday We had our library open and we had to dress up in our favorite book character I was twiddle dum my sister Kahukura was twiddle Dee. Anyway we had to do reading activities one of them was reading to the junior classes we had to read to Nga Rau Rito it was fun. The easy part was choosing a book that was cool for kids. The hard part was getting the kids attendance because they where so bored. Maybe next time I should ask what book they want me to read. What do you think. Here are photos

Zoofari

On Monday 5 of November the yr 5&6s went to the zoo in Auckland I had a great experience. I had learnt so much about lizards. I know that the gecko, skink and tuatara are reptile because they can be camouflaged where every they are mostly in the forest. Also they are in the family of kiwis even though they are birds not reptiles. We had seen so many animals my favorite animal was the flamingo because I could speck just like them but I did not know what they said. The biggest animal I saw was the elephant  it was so big it was the first time I saw a real life elephant. The tallest animal was the giraffe  it looked small I thought it was going to be taller than that tree it was by. Finally the smallest animal was the fish they were swimming really fast and I tried to grab one well no one was looking what a cool day it had been. Here are some photos

Measure

Today we have been learning about measurement and how it works. My class and I had to make a d.l.o about it. The things I learnt were 10mm=1cm, 100cm=1m and 1,000m=1km. The easy part was measuring different objects. The hard part was prancing the words probably. The thing I will do next time is get the LI done before everything else. Here is Tuishaly and my D.L.O.

Taumarere trip

On Thursday the 25th the bilingual classes went to taumaere because we had to learn about the history around that place. We had all jumped on the train and headed off. The big kids had walk 3km from taumarere bridge to opua it was so tiring but I am keen to do it again. Also we had to do a scavenger hunt it was really fun. After that we all  had to walk to the club rooms to catch the train. Here is a D.L.O of the past and present of taumarere.

My writing goal is to get a higher rubric mark for structure and language because I am only at rubric 4 which is I use appropriate words for my writing when my goal is rubric 5 I use a range of language features appropriate to the purpose. This is my goal for writing

On one blazing hot Friday I was getting ready to go to the beach and could not wait. I had to sit in the van with many others and I could fell the breeze of the heavy wind blowing against my face. When we got there we had to wait for the other van we started to get so bored and wanted to go for a swim. It started to get hotter and the van was still not there. I was wondering if they were getting some food from the shop but dose it really take this long. They had finally approached and we where Allowed to hope in the water with no hesitation I had put my head under water and started swimming.

My friends and I started to see colossal waves they where so big they where bigger than a 5 foot Pearson. We all started to catch the waves but they where to powerful they pushed me under and I scraped my back on the rocky solid rocks. The waves even wiped out a kayak with tow people in there we started to laugh without even noticing there kayak was floating away. We then came across a 6 foot wave  it had nocked over not just me but most of my friends and a couple of the little kids one was 6 the other was 5.

Finally we had to start hoping out because of the colossal wave´s and it was lunch. We had to line up and get our food it was sizzling sausages they did not have bread so they used buns  (so creative). We could not go for another swim because our stomach had to rest for 20min. 20min later only the the big kids where allowed a swim because of the waves mite nock over the little kids. The kids where not glad that they had to hope out so they started to have a sand castle competition.

Term 3 holiday blogging

This week and last week I have been doing the holiday blogging for term 3 and it has been wonderful. The easy part was starting from the being and working my way down. The hard part was making my raft and making it. Check it out

Adding decimals

For the past two weeks we have been doing decimals it was such great learning. The easy part was using a systematic table and the hard part was making sure that I read the problem right because I thought 6 was 0. Things you need to remember before doing this is to add right to left, one number in each column and Carrie. The thing I will do next time is to read the problem first and then answer it. Fun run

Last week our school all went to the fun run at united Kawakawa rugby club. I was so nervous I had more goosebumps than I usually have when I'm nervous how every It was such a blast. I had came second in my race I was running with the 9 year old because I was nine at the begin of the year. What happen is we got called out our ages and we all had to line up we had to wait until Matau boden said go he said go and we ran off. How did we get there we had to catch the train there and back. Why did we go we had to go because it was a school activity. We always used to call it cross country but now it is called fun run because we do lots of fun obstacle courses like the cargo nets and going under noddles. The last thing I will tell you is that we also had color powder the colors where pink, blue, purple and green. Here are some photos.

Red hot races

For the past week I have been reading a story called red hot races just like the design for good a had to do activity's one of the activity's I found hard was finding the meanings for to,too and two. How I solved it I wrote all of the words in sentences and I also asked my siblings. The easiest activity was probably the Exploring language because I what all the words meant. The words were variable, aerodynamic and streamline. I can push my self by doing a harder activity next time. The easy part was making sure that I had read the words probably and the hard part was Doing it with so much noise around me. Here is the book.

My project island song experience

My project island song experience

Last week I had a great time with room 2 and my class because we had so much fun at Urupukapuka island. I had learnt so much mostly about native animals and trees. If you had went there you would of agreed with me. We went grading, we planted native trees such as pohutakawa, kowhai, (Mean) Manuka and (kind) (King) kanuka and made traps one big one, two small ones. We need to plant native trees for native birds home and food. We all got clipboards and a project island booklet to write facts about birds and trees we see. I also would like to say thank you to whaea Jade, whaea Sally and whaea deb for taking us to this amazing place. You can help to keep pest away by picking up rubbish, Pull out weeds and put out traps. Here are some photos of us there.

Designed for good

This week we have been doing activities for homework about a book called designed for good maybe you have read the story. In reading we have been learning about exploring language. The hard part was doing one activity a night because I am so busy doing chores and get home late. The easy part was understanding the questions of the activity. The thing I will do next time is just to do homework where I am to get it out of the way. Here is the book I read.

DLO awa

For the past two weeks we have been learning about the awa and how it was use back then my class and I had to came up with a question and we had to find the answer. We had to make a D.L.O so Ebony and I made one together. The hard part was finding out a question to ask. The easy part was making my D.L.O that is attractive. The thing I will do next time is to find out more information for my D.L.O. Take a look at our work.

Writing blog

This week we have been learning about protect island and how there are no pest on it. I made a D.L.O with my friend Ebony. The hard part was searching for information and facts about the island. The easy part was taking my time and finishing my D.L.O we had to make. The thing I will do next time is to prof read my work and make sure I have punctuation in the right place. This week we have been doing some problem solving about the deca tree it was a bit hard. The easy part was working out the problem. The hard part was working with Joshua because he had no clue what he was doing.The thing I will do next time is to help someone if they are stuck. Here is my D.L.O.

Roman numerals

This week we have been learning about roman numerals I had so much fun doing this with Nga Rau Puawai. There where three rules You cant use more than 3 of the same letters and 2 more you well find out when you check my work. The hard part was not using more than 3 letters for the number. The easy part was doing it from 1-10. The thing I will do next time is to include others that are working with me. Here is my D.L.O I have created.

Publishing

Last week my class and I where doing animal report my animal was a red macaw it was fun the things we had to remember to put in where titles, sub headings, general statement, opening statement and diagram. The hard part was finding facts for a red macaw. The easy part was writing my story on to my goggle doc. The thing I will  do next time is find more facts for the animal I do. Here is one of my paragraphs of my red macaws story.

Diet

Wild red macaws find their food in the rain forest in South America.
The Red macaw parrot loves to eat nuts, leaves, berries and seeds and more.
They are very sensitive around foods because it might be poisonous.

Factors

This week we have been doing factors and played a cool game using factors and multiples. I really enjoyed it because it helped me with stage 7 for protect. The hard part was understanding how that  you could not find more than two factors by using the numbers 7,3 and 9. The easy part was finding factors using my timetables. The thing I will do next time is to make sure I know my odds and evens. Here is some of my work.

Matariki

This week we have been learning all about Matariki it has been really fun. The hole school got put in different groups I was in group 6 retailing the story of Matariki we made some animations. I learnt that there is more than one Matariki story. The easy part was thinking of an idea to do the animation about. The hard part was making it in two days. The thing I will do next time is to stay on the topic and stop changing it. Here it is.

For the past 2 weeks we have been doing a activity could beat the plastic with my friend Ebony. The easy part was making the D.L.O ( Digital learning object) attractive and want to make people read it. The hard part was doing the 10 activities because my internet was going slow. The thing I will do next time is make sure it makes scene. I am successful at the L.I. Here is my work.

This week for math we have been doing a problem solving activity and we had to use these numbers to make the biggest number and the lowest number. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6  but we where only allowed to use 4 of these numbers. Here is mine.

Writing reflection

This week in writing we have been doing some explain writing it has been an fanatic time. The easy part was using detail and putting my ideas in to paragraphs. The hard part was remembering to put capital letters in to my writing and putting them in the right place. The thing I will do next time is to stay on track and work alone. 

Math's reflection

This week in math's we have been learning to do problem solving and it has been fantastic. The easy part was working with others and Exploring. The hard part was to use talk moves because my buddies where not saying them. The thing I need to work on is to let others have there say and I'll have mine. I also need to work on looking for a systematic table.

Reading reflection

This week in reading we have been learning to generate and ask questions. The easy part is making a question with enough detail. The hard part was making sure they made sense and to make sure I am on the right thing. The thing I will do next time is to not talk over people.

Math's reflection

This week in math we have been doing a knew problem it was pretty hard because you could not put saucer and cups in the same row or colloum and their where 4 of each of these colors white, red, green, blue. The hard part was that working with others in this problem cofussise you. The easy part was using blocks to help me. The thing I will do next time is to stay on task and get the work done.

This week we are still doing read for meaning and I'm doing much better. The hard part was others were reading over me. The easy part was working in buddy's to get our work finish earlier. The thing I will do next time I will wait for others to speak and then have my talk.

Reading refection post

This week in reading we have been learning to read for meaning it was real easy. The hard part was when I tried to say something and my group talked over me and stole my ansewer. The easy part was reading the book for meaning It was fun. I dont really need to work on anything but keep up my good work. Here is what I think my work was like.

Problem solving reflection post

This week in math we have been doing problem solving and the problem was how to make 37 using 10 of these numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7. We then found out that we can not make it so we change it and used 9 and 11 numbers because odd numbers only equal even numbers. The hard part was making 37 with 10 numbers. The easy part was Working with others to get it done. The thing I need to do next time is make sure that I can convince people with my answer. This is my rating.
